Container House Dormitory Specifications

Admin September 16, 2026

Container house dormitories come in a variety of specifications, with common ones as follows:

Standard Container Houses: Typically, they adopt the specifications of a 20-foot container, with dimensions of 5898mm×2352mm×2390mm (length, width, and height), that is, 5.898 meters in length, 2.352 meters in width, and 2.39 meters in height. This specification originates from international standard containers, featuring high structural strength, ease of transportation, and stacking. They are commonly used for temporary office work, living, or warehousing scenarios. Their internal space is compact and can meet basic living needs through reasonable layout, such as the installation of bunk beds and simple tables and chairs.

Common Container Mobile Panel Houses: Their dimensions are mostly 3 meters×6 meters×2.8 meters (length, width, and height). This specification optimizes space utilization through modular design, covering an area of about 18 square meters. It can accommodate multiple people for living and also serve as an office or activity space. Its height is moderate, avoiding a sense of oppression, and it supports vertical and horizontal splicing and expansion to form a larger usable space. For example, after two 3-meter×6-meter panel houses are spliced horizontally, a continuous space of 6 meters×6 meters can be obtained to meet larger-scale needs.

On-site Residential Containers: They are subdivided into multiple specifications according to usage scenarios:

  • 3 meters×3 meters×2.8 meters: With a relatively small area, they are suitable for 2 people to live in and are mostly used in scenarios with low space requirements such as on-site guardrooms and small warehouses.
  • 6 meters×3 meters×2.8 meters: A common specification on construction sites, it can accommodate about 10 people and is suitable as a worker dormitory. It can also be transformed into functional rooms such as toilets and kitchens.
  • 7 meters×3 meters×2.8 meters: Based on the 6-meter specification, it adds a corridor and a canopy. When used on the second floor, it provides additional passage space. The interior layout is the same as that of the 6-meter specification and can also be used independently.
In addition, on-site containers support customized production, and their dimensions can be flexibly adjusted, for example, by shortening or lengthening the length and increasing the number of floors to adapt to different needs.

Other Specifications: Some container houses have an internal area of about 18 square meters and are equipped with facilities such as bunk beds and air conditioners, balancing living comfort and functionality. There is also a 3-meter×6-meter specification with a one-door-two-window design, providing good ventilation and lighting. It can be added as a two-story structure to further expand the usable area. These specifications can quickly build temporary building complexes through modular combinations, meeting the rapid deployment needs of construction sites, disaster areas, and other scenarios.
