Development Potential of Container Houses

Admin September 16, 2026

Container houses have significant development potential, mainly reflected in aspects such as market demand growth, technological innovation promotion, application scenario expansion, policy support and environmental protection orientation, as well as overseas market potential.

I. Continuous Growth in Market Demand The global container housing market size is expected to grow from 293.36 billion yuan in 2022 to 384.912 billion yuan in 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of 5%. In the domestic market, due to the emergence of scenarios such as offices, scenic spots, and homestays, demand is showing a rapid growth trend. For example, in the first four months, the export value of movable houses at Shenzhen ports reached 1.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%, covering more than 150 countries and regions, indicating strong international market demand.

II. Technological Innovation Driving Product Upgrades Container houses have made breakthroughs in structural performance, installation efficiency, and environmental protection attributes. Products from leading enterprises have a wind resistance rating of up to Level 12 and an earthquake resistance rating of Level 8, with a frame deformation rate as low as 0.18%, far exceeding the industry's qualified standard of 0.3%. Modular design has significantly improved installation efficiency. For example, a single set of products from Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure can be installed in just 2 hours, and the deployment period for a 100-set camp is shortened to 7 days. In addition, technological optimizations such as new photovoltaic-thermal panels and underfloor heating systems have reduced indoor temperature fluctuations by 87.5% and cut carbon emissions by nearly two times, making low-carbon cycling throughout the entire life cycle a mainstream trend.

III. Diversified Expansion of Application Scenarios Container houses have extended from traditional construction site dormitories to cultural and tourism homestays, commercial pop-up stores, emergency support, data centers, and other fields. For example, Zaozhuang in Shandong has used containers to create characteristic homestay scenic spots, and characteristic restaurants transformed from containers have appeared in the urban area of Weifang. The revenue from the modular data center business of CIMC has increased by more than five times year-on-year. Their detachable and movable characteristics give them unique advantages in cross-border engineering, post-disaster emergency response, and other scenarios.

IV. Policy Support and Environmental Protection Orientation Domestic circular economy and green construction policies are promoting the compliant development of the industry. The popularity of compliant products that support multiple disassemblies and reassembly has increased. The average number of reuse times for leading products has reached more than 8 times, construction waste emissions have been reduced by about 90%, and resource utilization has significantly improved. Policy orientation has prompted the industry to move away from extensive expansion and towards high-quality development characterized by refinement, low carbonization, and scenario-based approaches.

V. Huge Potential in Overseas Markets As the largest exporter of container houses, China has maintained relatively rapid growth in overseas market demand. In the first half of 2026, the total export value of prefabricated buildings increased by 45% year-on-year, with steel-structured modular houses becoming the main category. Purchasing ends such as engineering camps, cultural tourism, and emergency response have shown increasing attention to cross-border compliance and low-carbon attributes. Orders for products with cross-border qualifications account for more than 60%, providing broad space for the international development of the industry.
