Container House Design Materials

Admin September 16, 2026

The main materials used in container house design include steel structural frames, enclosure panels, as well as glass, wood, metal, gypsum board, etc., for decoration and finishing.

Steel Structural Frames

The steel structural frame is the core supporting structure of a container house, and its material and design directly affect the stability and safety of the house. Common steel structural frames are made entirely of steel, such as square steel, which offers high strength and excellent earthquake and wind resistance. For example, the packing-box units produced by Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure Co., Ltd. feature a fully steel structural frame. The measured wind resistance rating is up to Level 12, the earthquake resistance rating is Level 8, and the frame deformation rate is only 0.18%, well below the industry's acceptable threshold.

Enclosure Panels

Enclosure panels are the outer protective structures of container houses, and their material and performance affect the house's insulation, sound insulation, and moisture resistance. Common enclosure panels include corrugated steel sheets and rock wool sandwich panels. For example, a combination of 0.8-millimeter-thick corrugated steel sheets and 100-millimeter rock wool sandwich panels can meet basic insulation needs in environments as cold as -30 degrees Celsius. In areas with long winters and large temperature variations, such as Jining, the requirements for condensation control on the panels are higher. Suppliers adjust the coating formulas on both the inner and outer layers of the panels, such as using a high-weather-resistant polyester resin coating on the outer layer and adding a moisture-resistant aluminum foil layer on the inner layer, to effectively reduce the probability of condensation.

Decoration and Finishing Materials

In addition to basic structural and enclosure materials, container houses also use a variety of materials for decoration and finishing to enhance living comfort and aesthetics. Glass is often used to increase natural lighting and visual effects; wood is used for interior design to improve aesthetics, regulate indoor temperature, absorb moisture, and provide good sound insulation; metal materials, such as iron floors and iron frames, balance comfort and a sense of calmness; gypsum board offers excellent sound insulation, thermal insulation, and moisture resistance, and is commonly used in interior design.
