Plastering in Container House Decoration
Admin September 15, 2026
When plastering in container house decoration, it is essential to focus on aspects such as material selection, base treatment, construction process, environmental protection, and maintenance. Details are as follows:

Material Selection
- Water-resistant and ordinary plaster: Water-resistant plaster has good moisture resistance and is suitable for humid environments; ordinary plaster is suitable for dry areas. In coastal or humid regions, water-resistant plaster is preferred. In dry areas, ordinary plaster can be considered, but water-resistant plaster generally offers better overall performance.
- Ready-mixed plaster: Choose ready-mixed plaster that does not require secondary proportioning. It can be used by simply adding water and stirring. It is strictly prohibited to add glue or talcum powder, as this can release harmful substances such as formaldehyde, affecting indoor air quality.
Base Treatment
- Cleaning and repair: Remove hollow layers and old wall coverings, repair cracks and holes, and apply an interface agent to enhance adhesion. First, use gypsum to level grooves, pits, and other depressions greater than 5mm, and then apply plaster to avoid cracking due to excessive single-layer thickness.
- Mesh reinforcement for crack prevention: Install mesh at crack-prone areas such as cracks, grooves, and joints of suspended ceiling gypsum boards. There is no need to install mesh throughout the entire house in other areas. Joints of lightweight walls (such as gypsum board walls) must be reinforced with mesh.
Construction Process
- Layered application: Generally, 2-3 coats of plaster are required. Each coat should be 0.5-1 mm thick, and should be sanded after drying. The first coat focuses on leveling large-scale unevenness, the second coat provides fine leveling, and the third coat is applied based on the flatness of the wall surface.
- Sanding and inspection: Sand the surface until smooth. Use a 2-meter level to check flatness, with an error not exceeding 2 mm. Corners should be straight, and there should be no obvious sand holes or scratches.
Environmental Protection and Maintenance
- Environmental standards for materials: Plaster must comply with the standards for 'Indoor Decorating and Refurbishing Materials - Limit of Harmful Substances in Interior Wall Plaster'. Low-VOC products are preferred, especially for children's rooms and bedrooms.
- Natural drying: After construction, close the windows to avoid strong ventilation or direct sunlight, which can cause cracking. The maintenance period is usually 3-5 days, depending on the weather and drying speed.
