Cooking in a Container House
Container houses can be used for cooking, but certain conditions must be met and safety measures must be taken.

Having Water and Electricity Facilities is Fundamental
Judging from multiple cases, most container houses that have been successfully renovated for residential use are equipped with complete water and electricity facilities. For example, a couple transformed a used container into a home, achieving full water and electricity supply, integrating functions such as cooking and bathing. Another person spent 13,000 yuan to renovate a second-hand container, creating a cozy little house with an open-plan kitchen. The connection of water and electricity provides the basic conditions for cooking in a container house. Water can meet the needs of cleaning ingredients and kitchenware, while electricity can power various kitchen appliances such as induction cookers and rice cookers.
Rational Planning of Kitchen Space
Due to the limited space in container houses, rational planning of kitchen space is crucial. A linear or L-shaped kitchen layout can be adopted. This layout saves space, does not interfere with daily cooking, and the empty spaces above, below, to the left, and to the right can be made into cabinets for storage. For example, in a foreigner's renovated 15-square-meter mini home, every visible spot in the linear kitchen is filled with various double-door cabinets and open shelves. These are used to store kitchenware and tableware, making them more convenient to use.
Paying Attention to Fire Safety
There are certain fire safety hazards when cooking in a container house. To save costs, some container board houses use flammable materials such as polystyrene and polyurethane foam. Once a fire breaks out, it spreads rapidly and is difficult to extinguish. Therefore, when renovating a container house for cooking, it is best to use rock wool boards or fireproof cotton as filling materials to achieve a fire resistance rating of Class A or above. At the same time, heat sources and fire sources should not be placed close to the container board house. Wires and cables should be protected with sleeves. Socket and switch boxes should be made of metal galvanized boxes and installed in an exposed manner. Simple fire-fighting equipment should be provided both inside and outside.
