Container House Construction Technology

Admin September 16, 2026

Container house construction technology mainly includes modular design, factory prefabrication, on-site assembly, and key node treatment.

Modular design and factory prefabrication are the core of container house construction. Container houses divide the entire building into independent housing modules, completing all processes such as the main structure, water and electricity pipelines, bathroom waterproofing, sanitary equipment, cabinets, and wardrobes inside the factory. For example, a steel-structure modular intelligent factory in Guangdong uses a fully automated production line to disassemble the house into six components: the bottom, top, and four sides. These components are produced simultaneously on multiple sub-production lines and then assembled into a complete container at the end of the production line. This model adopts parallel operations, advancing multiple processes simultaneously, completely transforming the traditional construction site's operational form and significantly improving production efficiency.

On-site assembly technology is a crucial part of container house construction. After the container modules are transported to the project site, they need to be hoisted into position and structurally connected. Hoisting operations require the selection of an appropriate crane, such as a 25-ton truck crane, and the use of specialized container hooks to ensure hoisting safety. During positioning, axis deviation and verticality must be controlled to ensure assembly accuracy. For structural connections, the bottom and top beams of adjacent containers can be connected using steel plate welding or high-strength bolts to ensure connection strength. For example, a company in Ejin Horo Banner introduced a dual-fixing mode of "wedge-shaped lock + high-strength bolt" at the container connections for geological conditions with a seismic fortification intensity of 7 degrees, improving the node's seismic adaptability.

Key node treatment is also an important aspect of container house construction. It includes verticality control for multi-container stacking, seismic loosening prevention treatment for node connections, and the construction quality of waterproof sealing works. For example, in foundation engineering, it is necessary to design an independent foundation + ground beam form according to the building load and geological conditions to ensure foundation stability. At the same time, the envelope structure of container houses should adopt a composite construction, such as a three-layer composite construction of "rock wool - air layer - aluminized zinc plate", to improve thermal performance and reduce condensation risks.
