Container House Construction Plan

Admin September 16, 2026

The container house construction plan requires comprehensive consideration from multiple aspects such as design, selection, and construction. The following are the key points of the specific plan:

Design Phase It is necessary to clarify the usage scenario and duration. For temporary scenarios (1-2 years), emphasis should be placed on rapid assembly and disassembly and low cost. For medium- and long-term scenarios (3-10 years), both aesthetics and practicality need to be considered. For permanent scenarios (over 10 years), the structure and thermal insulation performance need to be enhanced. The design should adhere to four major principles: Safety (stable structure, compliance with building codes), Sustainability (environmentally friendly materials, utilization of renewable energy), Comfort (reasonable layout, optimized indoor environment), and Flexibility (modular design, easy functional adjustments). For example, the exterior design can integrate modern minimalist style with industrial elements, creating an artistic sense through stacking and cutting containers. The interior design should divide spaces for living, working, etc., and use natural and artificial lighting to create a comfortable environment.

Preliminary Preparation and Selection Site survey is crucial. It is necessary to confirm the foundation bearing capacity (temporary scenarios ≥ 5 tons/㎡, medium- and long-term scenarios ≥ 8 tons/㎡), avoid underground pipelines, measure the slope (≤ 3 degrees) and reserve drainage slopes (3‰). Water and electricity access points should match usage requirements, with temporary scenarios requiring ≥ 10 kilowatts of power supply and medium- and long-term scenarios reserving 20-50 kilowatts. In terms of container selection, for temporary scenarios, second-hand shipping containers (in service for ≤ 5 years, with rust area ≤ 5%) can be chosen. For medium- and long-term scenarios, it is preferable to use brand-new custom containers (Q235 weather-resistant steel, side panels ≥ 1.6 mm, roof panels ≥ 2.0 mm), and reserve door and window openings in advance to avoid structural damage from later cutting.

Foundation Construction and Structural Modification For temporary scenarios, point foundations (C20 concrete prefabricated blocks with a bearing capacity ≥ 2 tons) can be used, with a construction period of only 1 day and no damage to the site. For medium- and long-term scenarios, ring beam foundations (excavated to a depth of 20 cm, followed by concrete pouring and embedded connectors) are required. During structural modification, openings with a width ≤ 1.5 meters need to be reinforced with square steel frames, and those > 1.5 meters require additional beams or columns. When connecting two containers, a steel beam must be welded above the opening and placed on the original corner columns or new columns. Cutting operations should use plasma cutting machines, with full welding at the joints and application of anti-rust paint.

Thermal Performance Optimization The original container walls have a high thermal conductivity coefficient, so a continuous insulation layer is needed to prevent thermal bridges. The recommended solution is: exterior wall metal carved panels → 30 mm air layer → 50 mm XPS extruded polystyrene board (fire rating B1) → original steel plate → 50 mm rock wool interior insulation (filled in the studs) → 9 mm OSB board or gypsum board. A 300 mm wide apron slope (with a slope of 5%) should be made around the foundation to prevent rainwater backflow. For sites at risk of flooding, the foundation should be raised more than 300 mm above the ground, and maintenance space should be reserved.
