Container House Connected to Main Floor Heating
Container houses can be equipped with floor heating and connected to the main heating system. Here are the details:

I. Basic Design for Floor Heating Installation in Container Houses Container houses are primarily constructed with steel, so floor heating installation requires tailored design based on steel properties. During construction, a 2-3 cm thick graphene XPS extruded insulation board should be laid on the ground base. This board has a temperature resistance range of -20℃ to 75℃, effectively retaining heat, reducing energy consumption, and blocking underground moisture. Above the insulation board, an acrylic reflective film should be laid to further minimize downward heat loss. On top of the reflective film, interlocking flooring is installed to reflect heat into the room, creating a complete thermal circulation system. If a hydronic heating system is used, the ground construction should be adjusted to include 20mm extruded board + reflective film + floor heating pipes + 50mm fine aggregate concrete backfill to enhance structural stability.
II. Three Methods for Connecting Floor Heating to the Main Heating System
- Direct Connection Method: Connect the floor heating pipes directly to the main heating system using direct welding or threaded connectors. This method offers strong sealing and tight connections but requires extremely high craftsmanship. Ensure that the joint surfaces are free of oil or oxide scale, and that threaded connectors are parallel and aligned. Improper operation can make future replacement of floor heating pipes extremely cumbersome.
- Pipe Clamp Connection Method: Use a clamp to secure the floor heating pipes to the main heating system, then reinforce with a collar. This method is convenient for construction and easy for maintenance, suitable for large-scale construction in a short time. However, sealing can be difficult to guarantee, so it is essential to strictly check whether the inner diameter of the pipe clamp matches the outer diameter of the floor heating pipes and ensure uniform clamping force distribution.
- Self-contained Hydraulic Connection Method: Utilize a dedicated hydraulic connector to complete the joint connection. This method offers advantages such as easy installation, firm connection, and reliable sealing. When operating, use matching connectors and ensure strict control over the quality of pipe cutting to avoid burrs or deformation affecting sealing.
III. Recommendations for Floor Heating Type Selection Container houses can be equipped with either hydronic or electric heating systems:
- Hydronic Heating: Suitable for centralized heating or long-term use scenarios, with lower energy consumption but higher initial installation costs.
- Electric Heating: Suitable for single containers or temporary use, with lower costs and fast response times, but potentially higher operating costs than hydronic heating.
The actual choice should be based on a comprehensive assessment of usage needs, budget, and heating conditions.
