Container House Combination

Admin September 15, 2026

Container houses can be combined in various ways to form architectural spaces of different scales and functions.

I. Combination Methods

  1. Horizontal Splicing: Multiple containers are spliced horizontally to create larger planar spaces, suitable for scenarios such as conference rooms, exhibition halls, and民宿 (homestay) lobbies. For example, after two containers are connected, a flat layout can be formed that integrates a living and dining area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a bathtub.
  2. Vertical Stacking: Containers are stacked vertically to form multi-story buildings, suitable for scenarios requiring multi-story spaces such as dormitories and hotels. For example, a four-story giant black container building is composed of 16 architectural-grade containers arranged in a crisscross pattern.
  3. Split-Level Design: Stacking containers at different levels creates richer spatial hierarchies and leaves leisure courtyards or aisle areas at the bottom level, improving ventilation and lighting.
  4. Special Shape Combinations: Combinations such as L-shaped and U-shaped enclosures can form unique architectural forms, suitable for scenarios such as popular homestays and cafes.

II. Combination Advantages

  1. High Flexibility: The combination methods of container houses are flexible and diverse, allowing customization according to actual needs to meet usage requirements in different scenarios.
  2. High Space Utilization: Through combination, the three-dimensional space of containers can be fully utilized to improve space utilization and achieve large functions in small spaces.
  3. Fast Construction Speed: Container houses are integral structures that can be quickly transported to their destinations by cranes, installed on-site, and ready for occupancy on the same day. Disassembly is also simple, requiring only direct lifting away.
  4. Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency: Container houses can be recycled for up to ten years, are more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient, and do not produce any operational waste during use.

III. Application Scenarios

The combination applications of container houses are extensive, including temporary dormitories for construction site workers, temporary offices, factory buildings,野外 (field) operation sites, mobile office rooms, temporary warehouses, and military outpost activity guard posts. Meanwhile, with technological development and design innovation, container houses are also gradually being applied in fields such as residential housing, commercial services, bathroom types, and special types (medical containers, equipment containers, laboratory containers, explosion-proof/refrigerated containers).
