Admin September 15, 2026

The following is an analysis of accidents related to container houses:

I. Fire and Explosion Accidents in Container Houses

In the "8·9" "M" Ship Fire and Explosion Accident in Ningbo, Zhejiang, the Liberian-flagged container ship "M" experienced a fire and explosion in a container (storing the hazardous material tert-butyl peroxybenzoate) loaded on the starboard side of the No. 1 cargo hold while operating at the Ningbo Zhoushan Port. The direct cause was improper storage of hazardous materials under high-temperature weather conditions, leading to self-decomposition and thermal runaway. The accident caused damage to nearby containers and the ship's hull, with direct economic losses of approximately 90 million yuan, constituting a major maritime traffic accident.

II. Accidents Involving External Force Damage to Container Houses

In the "4·13" Crane Overturning Major Accident at the Dongjiangkou Prefabricated Component Factory in Dongguan, the crane, affected by strong convective weather, moved along the track and accelerated due to the failure to lower the rail clamps, ultimately colliding with the stopper, derailing, and overturning, crushing nearby residential container composite houses. The direct causes of the accident included the crane's rail clamps being in a non-operational state, the sudden onset of strong convective weather, and the crane's movement speed exceeding the critical value. The accident resulted in 18 deaths and 33 injuries, with direct economic losses of 18.61 million yuan.

III. Accidents Due to Improper Use of Container Houses

In the carbon monoxide poisoning accident at a highway project in Benxi, Liaoning Province, a migrant couple privately resided in a container house at the construction site and died from carbon monoxide poisoning due to improper use of a diesel heater for warmth and the enclosed nature of the house. The direct cause of the accident was improper use of the heating equipment and the enclosed house, with direct economic losses of approximately 3 million yuan.
