On the importance of rock wool panel thermal insulation used in container houses

Admin September 11, 2026

Because container houses are metal structures with a high heat-transfer coefficient, insulation upgrades are essential to achieve a better indoor thermal environment. Container house upgrades generally fall into three cases: insulation inside the box, insulation on the outside of the box, and shipping containers that already use an insulated structure. Shipping containers are hard to dismantle and renovate, are not economical in price, are scarce in supply, and carry high risk factors, so they are not suitable for container-house renovation. Therefore, for our company's container houses, this article mainly introduces the first two insulation approaches for container houses. 1. Interior thermal insulation When interior insulation is used, the box can be upgraded in the factory. The exterior remains a solid metal structure and retains various lifting holes, which helps with lifting and transport and does not damage the fragile insulation layer. This type of container house building needs to expose the shipping container's metal structure as a composite building, and it also requires frequent dismantling and transport of single boxes and small numbers of boxes. 2. Exterior insulation treatment After insulation and heat-barrier treatment on the exterior of a container house building, the box is suitable as the building's internal structure, with other cladding materials covering the outside as a complete building. In general, insulation and exterior cladding work are carried out after the overall assembly of the box bodies is finished. The construction points are the same as for common exterior insulation materials used on steel-structure buildings. In practice, exterior insulation of shipping containers is applied after container transport and assembly are completed.
