Advantages and Disadvantages of Container Double Houses
Admin September 16, 2026
The advantages of container double houses include fast construction, low cost, high structural strength, flexibility, environmental friendliness, and good safety performance; the disadvantages are insufficient thermal insulation and sound insulation, as well as limitations in high-temperature and humid environments.

Advantages:
- Fast construction, low cost: Container double houses are built using existing containers as the base material, making the construction speed much faster than traditional buildings and the cost lower. For example, a container with an interior area of about 13 square meters after renovation sells for approximately 12,000 yuan, with a price of nearly 900 yuan per square meter, which is relatively affordable.
- High structural strength, good durability: Containers are designed to withstand heavy loads and extreme weather conditions, so double houses have high structural strength and durability, able to resist harsh weather and natural disasters, ensuring the safety of occupants.
- High flexibility, good portability: Container double houses can be quickly assembled, transferred, and disassembled as needed, making them very suitable for use as temporary construction site offices, emergency accommodations, and mobile office spaces.
- Environmentally friendly and safe: Container houses generate less construction waste during the building process and have recycling value, aligning with the concept of low-carbon environmental protection. At the same time, their structure is difficult to be easily damaged or broken into, providing high safety performance.
Disadvantages:
- Insufficient thermal insulation performance: Due to differences in product materials, the thermal insulation performance of low-end container houses cannot be guaranteed. To achieve better results, it is necessary to choose products from manufacturers with quality assurance, which are usually about twice the price of low-end products.
- Poor sound insulation performance: Due to the relatively good sound transmission effect of metal materials, the sound insulation performance of container houses may be poor, and additional sound insulation treatment may be required to reduce noise interference.
- Limitations in high-temperature and humid environments: Exposed steel structures experience a significant decrease in strength in high-temperature environments (e.g., when the temperature reaches about 600°C), making them prone to deformation or even collapse. In addition, steel is at risk of corrosion when exposed to humid environments for a long time, so professional fireproof cladding and long-term anti-corrosion treatment are required.
