Specifications for Mobile Toilets at Construction Sites

Admin October 12, 2026

The specifications for mobile toilets at construction sites mainly cover aspects such as setup types and standards, site selection and installation, configuration quantity and types, daily maintenance and cleaning, and usage norms and safety management.

Setup Types and Standards: According to the 'Environmental and Sanitary Standards for Construction Sites' (JGJ146 - 2013), flush toilets or mobile toilets should be installed. The toilet floor should be hardened, with complete doors and windows, and partitions between squatting positions should be installed with a height not less than 1.2m.

Site Selection and Installation: Mobile toilets should be placed more than 5 meters away from the construction area, away from water sources and fire sources. During installation, ensure the ground is level, use expansion bolts to secure against tipping, and reserve at least a 1.2-meter passage around. The placement should be away from construction dust areas and living areas, maintaining a safe distance of more than 30 meters from canteens and dormitories.

Configuration Quantity and Types: According to the 'Environmental and Sanitary Standards for Construction Sites in Hubei Province', generally, one standard stall should be provided for every 50 people. Considering separate use by men and women, it is recommended that the number of stalls for women be more than that for men (approximately a ratio of 1:1.5). For special construction areas (such as high-temperature work areas and densely populated areas), additional barrier-free mobile toilets or products with ventilation devices should be configured. For toilet setup, one squatting pan should be provided for every 50 men and one for every 25 women; a 1m long urinal trough should be provided for every 50 men.

Daily Maintenance and Cleaning: Assign dedicated personnel to clean at least twice a day, including wiping surfaces, emptying waste, and replenishing toilet paper and hand soap. Use chemical deodorizers or plant fragrances to improve odors, and choose biodegradable cleaning products. Regularly inspect the internal facilities of the toilets, and repair damaged parts within 24 hours. Before the rainy season, check the bottom seal of the toilets, and take anti-freezing measures for the pipes in winter.

Usage Norms and Safety Management: Post usage instructions at the entrance of the mobile toilets, clearly stating prohibited behaviors, and have construction units arrange for on-duty personnel to conduct regular inspections. For night construction projects, mobile toilets should be equipped with emergency lighting and anti-slip mats. Establish a waste removal log to record the time and frequency of waste removal. Do not stack miscellaneous items in the toilets, and workers should flush promptly after use. Before severe weather, check the fixation of the toilets in advance, add antifreeze to the water tank in winter, and set up clear usage signs. During the epidemic prevention and control period, conduct a comprehensive disinfection at least once a day.
