Renovation of Mobile Ecological Toilets at Construction Sites

Admin October 02, 2026

The renovation of mobile ecological toilets at construction sites requires the comprehensive application of environmental protection technologies, modular design, intelligent systems, and material innovations to achieve the goals of water conservation, durability, ease of maintenance, and compliance with local standards.

Selection of Environmental Protection Technology Solutions

The core of the renovation lies in adopting low-pollution and high-efficiency excreta treatment technologies. Waterless packaging technology directly encapsulates excreta in biodegradable film bags without the need for flushing, making it suitable for water-scarce or temporary scenarios. Water-saving foaming technology uses a foaming agent mixed with a small amount of water to form foam that covers the toilet bowl, effectively isolating odors and reducing the single flush volume to below 0.5 liters, achieving over 90% water savings compared to traditional toilets. Microbial degradation technology decomposes organic matter through specific microbial communities, converting it into harmless gases or fertilizers, achieving zero-emission recycling. However, it requires regular replenishment of microbial strains and control of temperature and humidity.

Modular and Energy Self-Sufficiency Design

To meet the dynamic needs of construction sites, container-modified toilets have become the mainstream solution. They utilize standardized modular connections to quickly expand the number of toilet stalls and have pre-embedded water and electricity pipelines inside for easy maintenance. In terms of energy supply, solar power systems can drive exhaust fans, lighting, and some intelligent devices, paired with energy storage batteries to ensure normal operation at night or on cloudy and rainy days, reducing reliance on external power grids.

Integration of Intelligent Systems

During the renovation, bottom-level PLC data acquisition modules are often introduced to monitor parameters such as toilet stall usage status, water level, and power in real-time, and display available stall information at the entrance through toilet stall monitors to avoid queuing. Remote monitoring modules allow managers to adjust lighting duration, flushing frequency, and even receive fault alarms through mobile apps, enabling refined operation and maintenance.

Material Innovation and Durability Enhancement

Traditional toilets are prone to corrosion in construction site environments, while polyethylene integrated structures are injection-molded, weighing only one-third of concrete toilets, and are resistant to cold and impact, suitable for frequent transportation. Stainless steel squat toilets have smooth surfaces that do not easily retain stains and have a service life of over 10 years. Fiberglass and color-coated steel models feature wood-grain decorations and automotive-grade paint treatments, enhancing aesthetics while improving rust resistance, meeting the appearance requirements of municipal engineering for temporary facilities.

Compliance Requirements

After renovation, the toilets must comply with local standards such as the Regulations on the Management of Public Toilets in Chengdu, including a minimum stall spacing of 0.9 meters, the provision of barrier-free access, and the installation of deodorization equipment. Additionally, the excreta treatment of microbial degradation toilets must pass environmental protection department inspections to ensure compliance with discharge standards.
