Practices for Mobile Toilets on Construction Site Floors

Admin October 12, 2026

The practices for mobile toilets on construction site floors mainly include type and structure selection, location and quantity planning, construction methods, sanitation management and maintenance measures, as well as improvements for common issues.

Type and Structure: Mobile toilets on construction site floors mostly adopt mobile toilet compartments, primarily made of lightweight and durable polyethylene or steel structures. They possess properties such as corrosion resistance and UV resistance, enabling them to adapt to the ever-changing outdoor weather conditions. Each toilet compartment is independently set up, equipped with a collection box at the bottom for temporary storage of excreta. Some toilets are designed with simple ventilation openings to reduce odor accumulation. They do not require connection to underground drainage systems and are cleaned using movable collection containers.

Location and Quantity Planning: Reasonable layout is carried out based on the height and area of the construction floors and the number of workers. For example, a temporary toilet point is set up every two floors or every 500 square meters to prevent workers from being affected by long distances to the toilet, which could reduce work efficiency. Toilets should be as close as possible to stairwells or access points while avoiding major material storage areas and hazardous work areas to ensure safety and convenience. Toilet points are adjusted according to the construction progress. In high-rise buildings, a point may be set up every few floors and promptly removed upon completion.

Construction Methods: No civil engineering is required. The entire finished product is installed and can be used immediately upon placement, similar to assembling building blocks, with columns erected, spliced, and fixed, and the buckles fitting tightly. They can also be made using water storage tanks and pallets: Fix universal wheels at the bottom of the pallet, place and cut the water storage tank to form an open tank body, stack and fix two tank bodies, cut out an entrance, drill holes in the internal floor to install a drainage system, fix the toilet, install faucets, washbasins, and showers, and finally install the door.

Sanitation Management and Maintenance Measures: The construction site arranges for dedicated personnel to regularly clean and disinfect the toilets, with the frequency depending on the number of users, such as once every half-day or every day. The waste liquid and solids in the collection boxes are handled by professional cleaning personnel and transported to designated locations for harmless disposal. The toilets are equipped with simple sanitary supplies such as toilet paper and hand soap, and some are also equipped with temporary hand-washing facilities.

Common Issues and Improvements During Use: High temperatures in the toilet compartments during hot weather may lead to increased odor. Insufficient cleaning frequency during periods of high worker density may affect sanitation conditions. To address these issues, the construction site can take measures such as increasing ventilation equipment, adjusting the cleaning schedule, or adding temporary toilet points for optimization.
