Concrete Prefabricated House

Admin September 18, 2026

A concrete prefabricated house is a concrete-structured building constructed mainly from factory-produced reinforced concrete prefabricated components, assembled on-site.

Construction Process

The construction process is similar to 'building with blocks'. The main body of the house is pre-cast into individual concrete components in a factory. During house construction, these components are simply connected to form a rough house. This method significantly reduces on-site wet work and speeds up construction. For example, a two-story reinforced concrete rough house can be completed in about two weeks.

Advantages and Characteristics

  • Construction: Fast construction speed, suitable for winter construction, high production efficiency, good product quality, and reduced material waste. Factory production allows for better control of the production environment and process, ensuring the quality stability and precision of components. On-site assembly reduces many cumbersome procedures in traditional construction, improving construction efficiency.
  • Environmental Protection: It reduces resource consumption and construction waste emissions from the source. Taking Fujian Province and other places as examples, through policy support, industrial bases have been established, achieving a reduction in construction waste of over 70%. This aligns with the concept of sustainable development and is of great significance for environmental protection.

Development History

China's prefabricated concrete technology began in the 1950s and was initially applied to factory and residential construction. In the 1970s, driven by the 'three modernizations' policy in construction, technical systems such as large-panel structures and box structures were formed. In the mid-1980s, it stagnated due to cost and quality defects. After the 21st century, it recovered due to production efficiency and environmental advantages, with the emergence of various structural systems such as the prefabricated frame with external cladding system, the prefabricated prestressed concrete frame structural system, the fully prefabricated shear wall (NPC) system, and the composite shear wall prefabricated concrete structural system.

Connection Details and Design Principles

For connection details, steel bar connections are used, including grouted sleeve connections, lap connections, and welded connections. In the design of prefabricated components, principles such as reasonable force distribution, reliable connections, convenient construction, fewer specifications, and multiple combinations are followed. Architectural structural design strives for generalization, modularization, and standardization to facilitate the generalization of component production.

Market Situation

Chinese-made prefabricated houses are selling well overseas. According to customs data, in the first four months of 2026, the Guangzhou Customs District exported movable houses worth 1.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 38.1%, demonstrating their competitiveness in the international market.
