Chinese Environmental Protection Mobile Toilet

Admin September 21, 2026

The Chinese environmental protection mobile toilet is a movable and combinable public sanitation facility that employs environmental protection technologies to achieve water conservation and resource recycling. It covers various technical types, structural features, and application scenarios.

Technical Types and Water-Saving Solutions

The technical types of Chinese environmental protection mobile toilets mainly include three categories: waterless flushing, foam sealing, and water flushing.

  • Waterless flushing toilets do not require connection to water supply and drainage pipes. They treat excreta through biodegradation or physical sealing technologies, making them suitable for water-scarce or temporary scenarios.
  • Water flushing toilets need to be connected to water supply and drainage pipes. Some products integrate rainwater collection and filtration systems and hand-washing water secondary flushing technologies, significantly reducing water consumption.
  • Recirculating water flushing toilets are equipped with intermittent aerobic and anaerobic treatment devices. They add biological strains and utilize biofilm technology to accelerate the decomposition of fecal sewage. The treated water can be recycled for flushing, achieving a closed-loop resource utilization.
  • Dry packing toilets have no water flushing devices. Excreta is collected by biodegradable plastic bags, which are automatically replaced and collected for centralized treatment after use, avoiding sewage discharge.

Structural Features and Durability

Their frames are mostly welded from national standard steel, with surfaces covered with color-coated steel sheets or carved panels and other anti-corrosion and fire-resistant materials, providing a service life of over 20 years. Exterior wall materials can be selected according to needs, including color-coated steel sheets, metal carved panels, anti-corrosion wood, stainless steel sheets, and aluminum-plastic panels, etc. The main structure meets the requirements for overall lifting. Internally, they are equipped with an independent toilet pit zoning treatment system:

  • The urine channel utilizes gravity flow, while the feces channel is cleaned by a piston-type scraper mechanical device.
  • They are equipped with anti-slip floors, automatic flushing toilet bowls, and ventilation and lighting systems. Standard configurations include toilet bowls (urinals), coat hooks, vanity mirrors, paper baskets, lighting fixtures, exhaust fans, door locks, and occupancy indicator lights.
  • Optional configurations include air conditioners (heating and cooling), air purifiers, anti-freezing systems, heating systems, background music, hand-washing basins, and water-saving faucets, etc. Some products also integrate intelligent systems, such as bottom-level PLC data acquisition systems, 40-inch LED toilet stall monitors, and 4G remote monitoring modules, supporting remote operation via mobile apps.

Application Scenarios and Policy Support

The product line covers细分场景 (sub-scenarios) such as construction site temporary toilets, scenic area garden toilets, and vehicle-mounted toilets, and has been widely used in public places such as scenic areas, service areas, and rural areas. According to the Regulations on the Management of Public Toilets in Chengdu, environmental protection mobile toilets must be set up to meet temporary needs when holding large-scale events.

Historical Evolution and Development Trends

Mobile public toilets emerged during the third public toilet revolution (from the 1990s to the end of the 20th century). Initially made of wood, they gradually adopted materials such as fiberglass-reinforced plastics and polyethylene. The fourth public toilet revolution (from the beginning of this century to the present) has driven technological upgrades, leading to the emergence of types such as reclaimed water reuse, sterilization and drying, solar energy, and waterless flushing ecological public toilets. Among them, ecological public toilets emphasize the self-purification of pollutants and resource recycling. Since 2012, environmental protection mobile public toilets have formed technical routes such as waterless flushing, foam sealing, and water flushing. Product forms have expanded to trailer-type, box-type substation cabinet-type, stainless steel kiosk-type, etc. The industrial chain involves more than 20 production enterprises in Liaoning, Shanghai, Hebei, and other places, providing diversified solutions.
