Principle of China Mobile Toilets
The principles of China mobile toilets are divided into two categories based on type: flush-type and non-flush-type. The core is to achieve excreta treatment and sanitation through structural design and technological means.

Flush-Type Mobile Toilets
The structure of flush-type mobile toilets is similar to that of traditional fixed toilets but features a movable design. Their core principle is to achieve excreta treatment through clean water flushing and sewage storage:
- Clean Water Supply System: A clean water tank is installed at the top or side, with water flow controlled by a foot pedal valve or manual button to complete the flushing action. Some models are equipped with small movable water tanks that require regular replenishment from external water sources.
- Sewage Storage System: A large-capacity sewage tank is installed at the bottom to collect the mixture of flushed sewage and excreta. When the sewage tank approaches its capacity limit, a fecal suction truck is required for cleaning to prevent overflow.
- Water-Saving Optimization Design: Some models integrate rainwater recycling systems, collecting and filtering rainwater for use as flushing water, reducing reliance on external clean water.
Non-Flush-Type Mobile Toilets
Non-flush-type mobile toilets use physical, biological, or chemical technologies to replace the flushing function, achieving waste reduction and harmless treatment. Common types include:
- Mechanical Packaging Type:
- A biodegradable plastic bag is installed below the squatting position. After excreta falls in, a mechanical device automatically seals the bag opening and transfers it to a fecal storage tank.
- When the fecal storage tank is full, it needs to be replaced or transported as a whole. The plastic bag has a short degradation cycle, reducing environmental pollution.
- Microbial Degradation Type:
- A degradation chamber is installed below the squatting position, filled with microbial carriers (such as sawdust, straw, etc.).
- Microorganisms decompose organic matter through aerobic fermentation, generating high temperatures (60-70°C) to kill pathogens and ultimately converting excreta into harmless fertilizer and a small amount of clean water.
- This technology aligns with ecological recycling concepts and is suitable for long-term use scenarios.
- Foam Sealing Type:
- An air pump mixes air with foaming liquid to form a dense foam layer on the surface of the squatting pan, isolating odors and lubricating the pipes.
- Excreta slides into a collection tank below, with each foaming action consuming only about 50 milliliters of liquid, significantly reducing water usage.
Technical Standards and Application Scenarios
The design of China mobile toilets must comply with the GB/T18092 'Waterless Sanitary Toilets' standard, ensuring sanitation indicators and environmental protection requirements. They have a wide range of application scenarios, including stations, construction sites, tourist attractions, and other temporary or densely populated areas, enabling rapid deployment and flexible movement through modular design.
