Changbaishan Container House
The container houses in the Changbaishan region, represented by the Helong Laolike Lake Guesthouse in the Laolike Lake Resort, integrate industrial construction with regional adaptability, forming a unique accommodation system.

1. Structure and Materials: Combination of Industrialization and Functionality
Container houses are constructed using standardized steel container modules, with the main frame made of weather-resistant steel, offering high strength and corrosion resistance to withstand the snow and wind loads in the Changbaishan region. The enclosure system employs "sandwich" composite panels, consisting of inner and outer steel plates with rock wool or polyurethane foam filling in between. Rock wool has a low thermal conductivity (approximately 0.03-0.04 W/(m·K)), and the closed-cell structure of polyurethane foam further enhances thermal insulation, ensuring stable indoor temperatures and adapting to the extreme cold environment of -20℃ to -30℃ in winter in Changbaishan.
2. Construction Method: Modularization and Environmental Protection
The main body of the house is prefabricated in the factory and only requires rapid assembly on-site, reducing dust and noise pollution from wet operations (such as concrete pouring) in traditional construction. Modular design also reduces material waste, with statistics showing that on-site construction energy consumption for container houses is about 30% less than that of traditional buildings, aligning with green building concepts. Additionally, the steel frame is recyclable, minimizing environmental impact during disassembly at the end of its lifecycle.
3. Function and Experience: Unique Accommodation and Regional Integration
The guesthouse combines container houses with local traditional gassho-zukuri houses, creating differentiated accommodation products. Container houses are equipped with integrated electrical wiring, lighting, and network interfaces to meet the needs of modern tourists; externally, floor-to-ceiling window designs allow tourists to enjoy snowy landscapes, with indoor lighting and starry skies creating a Nordic atmosphere at night. Special offers for stays include breakfast and tickets to the Laolike Lake Underground River Scenic Area, with surrounding entertainment options such as snow tubing tracks and snow hot pot, forming a complete tourism chain of "accommodation + experience."
4. Economy and Applicability
Accommodation prices for container houses start at 300 yuan per night, offering better value for money compared to some high-end hotels in the Changbaishan region, suitable for budget-conscious tourists. Their modular nature also allows for flexible adjustment of room quantities based on tourist traffic, such as adding container modules during peak seasons and reducing operational costs during off-seasons. Currently, this model has proven feasible in the Laolike Lake Resort, providing a new paradigm for combining industrialization with regional culture in tourism accommodation in Changbaishan.
