Can the Toilet Basin Be Moved?

Admin October 13, 2026

The toilet basin can be moved, but the difficulty and effectiveness of relocation need to be judged based on specific circumstances.

Toilet Relocation

  • Short-distance relocation (within 15 centimeters): A dedicated toilet relocation device can be used. This device is relatively simple to install and has a low cost. It can change the drainage position of the toilet to a certain extent, meeting the needs of small-scale position adjustments. However, using a relocation device may have a certain impact on the drainage effect, as there are bends inside the device that may slow down the drainage speed and increase the risk of blockage. Therefore, after use, regular cleaning and maintenance should be carried out to avoid drainage blockage caused by the accumulation of debris.
  • Long-distance relocation (more than 30 centimeters): It is necessary to chisel the ground and lay drainage pipes again. During construction, the pipe slope should be precisely set to ensure smooth drainage. If the slope is not set reasonably, sewage will not be able to drain smoothly, and problems such as water accumulation and odors are likely to occur. Moreover, this type of construction is relatively complex and requires professional plumbers and electricians to operate. Otherwise, it may damage the original building structure and affect the overall stability and safety of the bathroom. At the same time, re-laying pipes will also increase renovation costs and time.

Washbasin Relocation

  • Sunken bathroom: A relocation drainage pipe can be installed in the sunken box. However, this requires raising the ground by at least 5 centimeters, which may affect the overall floor height of the bathroom and make the space feel oppressive. In addition, after raising the ground, the ground needs to be re-treated, such as laying floor tiles, which increases the complexity and cost of renovation.
  • Different-floor drainage: It is recommended to use a flat relocation pipe to save space. The flat relocation pipe has a thin thickness and can achieve the relocation of the washbasin without taking up too much space. However, the drainage capacity of the flat pipe is relatively weak. When choosing, ensure that it can meet the normal drainage needs of the washbasin to avoid drainage blockage.
