Can Prefabricated Houses Have Stairs?
Whether prefabricated houses can have stairs depends on the situation and cannot be generalized.

Prefabricated Houses Built with Precast Concrete Slabs
In general, if the floor slabs of a prefabricated house are made of precast concrete slabs, it is not advisable to cut openings for stairs. Precast concrete slabs are manufactured in a factory and then transported to the construction site for assembly. These slabs are not connected to each other and each bears a certain load independently. Cutting an opening in one of these slabs to create stairs would compromise its structural integrity. Due to the lack of connection and fixation with other parts, the entire precast concrete slab might fall off after the opening is made, posing a significant threat to the safety of people and property inside the house and presenting serious safety hazards.
However, there is also the view that it can be done under specific conditions. For example, removing two precast floor slabs to create stairs. But this operation has extremely high construction requirements. During implementation, efforts should be made to minimize the load on the existing building. It requires a detailed assessment and design by a professional structural engineer to formulate a scientific and reasonable construction plan and take effective reinforcement measures to ensure that the overall structural stability of the house is not affected during the removal of precast slabs and the construction of stairs. However, this does not mean that such operations can be carried out arbitrarily, and caution is still required.
Prefabricated Houses with Cast-in-Place Concrete Floor Slabs
If the prefabricated house has cast-in-place concrete floor slabs, it is possible to cut openings for stairs. Cast-in-place concrete floor slabs are formed by binding steel bars into a mesh on the construction site and then pouring concrete over them. The steel bars and concrete combine to form an interconnected overall structure with good integrity and stability. Cutting an opening in such a floor slab will not have a significant impact on the overall structure. As long as appropriate reinforcement measures, such as adding steel bars, are taken at the opening, the load-bearing capacity and safety of the floor slab can be guaranteed, allowing for the relatively safe construction of stairs.
