Can Mobile Toilets Be Used on High-Rise Buildings?

Admin October 12, 2026

Mobile toilets can be used on high-rise buildings.

Application during Construction or Renovation

During the construction or renovation of high-rise buildings, workers and staff have an urgent need for restroom facilities. Building fixed toilets presents several issues. On one hand, the construction cost of fixed toilets is high, requiring significant investment in infrastructure, pipeline installation, and toilet structure construction. On the other hand, the construction period is long, and it may take a considerable amount of time from planning to completion and use, making it unable to promptly meet the restroom needs of personnel during construction. Mobile toilets, however, offer the advantages of flexibility and convenience. They can be quickly deployed to the construction site without the need for complex infrastructure support, providing restroom facilities for workers and staff promptly. They are highly suitable for temporary scenarios such as high-rise building construction or renovation.

Application in Completed High-Rise Buildings

For completed high-rise buildings, mobile toilets can also play an important role in certain special circumstances. When some floors require temporary additional restroom facilities due to maintenance work or events, the positions and quantities of fixed toilets are usually fixed and cannot meet such temporary changes in demand. In this case, mobile toilets can be flexibly placed on the corresponding floors according to actual needs, providing convenient restroom conditions for maintenance personnel or event participants and solving the problem of temporary restroom use.

Relevant Standard Regulations

According to Article 6.6.3 of the Unified Standard for Civil Building Design (GB50352-2019), a mobile toilet should be installed every three floors in super high-rise buildings. This regulation reflects the importance and necessity of mobile toilets in high-rise buildings and ensures the restroom needs of personnel in high-rise buildings from a standard perspective.

Prohibition of Unauthorized Construction

It should be noted that rooftop terraces belong to the public space of the community, and any unauthorized construction of mobile toilets or other structures is strictly prohibited. Such unauthorized construction not only encroaches on public resources, affecting the normal use and rights of other owners, but also more easily leads to safety risks such as falling objects from high altitudes and structural overload, posing a threat to the life and property safety of the entire building and its residents.
