Build Your Own Mobile Toilet
You can refer to the following methods to build your own mobile toilet. Choose the appropriate plan according to your actual needs and material conditions:

Building a Basic Mobile Toilet Using a Water Storage Barrel
1. Main Structure Construction Split a water storage barrel in half lengthwise with an angle grinder to form two half-barrels as the basic framework. Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board to ensure mobility. Horizontally fix wooden strips and self-tapping screws on the upper side of the barrel to form a supporting structure to increase the height. It is generally recommended that the height be between 1.8 and 2.2 meters to meet ergonomic requirements.
2. Wall and Roof Design Cut a doorway on the side of the water storage barrel. Install sponge strips to form a door frame and embed plastic soft boards to create raised walls. Ensure good sealing to prevent odor from spreading. Invert the upper half of the split water storage barrel on top of the wooden strips as the roof. Paint the surface with white waterproof paint to enhance aesthetics and extend the service life. The roof edges should be sloped to prevent water accumulation.
3. Functional Module Installation
- Drainage System: Drill a hole at the bottom of the barrel and install a drain pipe. Connect it to a three-way joint to form a floor drain to ensure smooth sewage discharge.
- Water Storage Device: Drill holes on the side and bottom of a plastic barrel, connect it with straight joints, and place the plastic barrel on the roof as a small water storage device for flushing or hand washing.
- Sanitary Facilities: Place a toilet and install a water tank. Fix it with glass glue to prevent leakage. Connect the drain pipe to a sewage barrel and ensure the connection is sealed.
- Hand Washing Area: Horizontally connect a water pipe to the three-way joint of the outlet pipe and extend it to the doorway as the inlet pipe for a hand washing basin. It can be used with a simple faucet.
4. Detail Optimization Use foam strips to splice discarded honeycomb wooden boards to make a simple door. Drill holes in the door and install joints to connect the water pipe. A waterproof cloth or transparent plastic sheet can be added to the roof to enhance rain protection.
Building a Simple Mobile Toilet Using a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet
1. Mobile Chassis Construction Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of a pallet to ensure a stable structure and flexible movement. It is recommended to use anti-corrosion wood or metal for the pallet material to adapt to outdoor environments.
2. Water Storage Tank Integration Fix the water storage tank on the pallet. Drill a hole on the side of the tank and connect a drain pipe. Install a valve at the bottom to control the water flow. A solar panel can be installed on the top of the tank (if a solar system is designed) or it can be directly used as storage space.
3. Enclosure Structure Supplement Use waterproof canvas or plastic sheets to build temporary walls around the edges of the pallet and cover the top with a waterproof cloth to form a roof. This plan is suitable for temporary use, with low cost but limited sealing and aesthetics.
Solar Mobile Toilet (Advanced Plan)
Combine the design of a water storage barrel and solar energy. Install solar panels on the roof to supply power for lighting or a small water pump. It can be used with a storage battery at night. Reserve circuit interfaces and ensure that all electrical equipment meets the waterproof rating requirements. This plan is suitable for outdoor scenarios without a power supply, but professional electrician assistance is required for installation.
