Build a Female Portable Toilet

Admin September 28, 2026

You can choose from the following plans to build a female portable toilet based on the usage scenario, budget, and hands-on ability:

I. Water-storage-bucket-based Portable Toilet (for temporary use scenarios)

  1. Material Selection and Structure

    • Select a 100L food-grade PE water storage bucket (such as brands like Chahua or Meiliya), and install braked universal wheels (with a load-bearing capacity of ≥50kg) at the bottom. Drill two holes on the side of the bucket: one for connecting a 2-分管 with a small faucet as the outlet pipe, and the other for installing an overflow pipe to prevent overflow.
    • Use PVC pipes to build a 1.2m×0.8m square frame, cover it with Oxford cloth waterproof fabric, and leave a ventilation opening at the top. Place a biodegradable plastic bag folding toilet (such as the Nature's Head portable model) on the bucket, and install a small washbasin next to it and connect it to the outlet pipe for washing purposes.
  2. Detail Optimization

    • Install a float switch inside the bucket to automatically remind you to add water when the water level is low. Place an anti-slip mat at the bottom to prevent slipping during movement. The wastewater can be recycled for flushing the toilet or watering plants.
    • In winter, wrap the water storage bucket with thermal insulation cotton to prevent the water pipes from freezing and cracking.

II. Simple Temporary Toilet (for low-cost emergency scenarios)

  1. Bucket-type Toilet

    • Materials: A 10-20 liter plastic bucket with a lid, thick garbage bags, absorbent materials (cat litter or wood shavings), toilet paper, disinfectant, and optionally a simple tent or screen.
    • Assembly: Line the bucket with a garbage bag and secure the edges. Spread 2-3 centimeters of absorbent material at the bottom to absorb odors and liquids. Place toilet paper and disinfectant inside, and install a handrail or bracket next to the bucket. Use a tent or screen to create a private space.
  2. Tent-type Toilet

    • Combine a small tent with a portable toilet or a bucket-type device. The tent provides a privacy barrier, and ensure good ventilation to avoid stuffiness.

III. Handmade Simple Toilet (requires hands-on ability)

  1. Basic Structure

    • Dig a toilet sewer and connect it to the municipal sewer system to ensure that the excreta is directly discharged into the municipal pipe network. Build four columns as a frame, enclose the walls with tiles or waterproof panels, and lay anti-slip floor tiles on the ground.
  2. Creative Design

    • Refer to the idea of children's toy toilets to make a hinged toilet seat, hidden storage cabinets, etc. Ensure there are no sanitary dead spots and the structure is stable (such as using metal hinges to fix the toilet seat).

IV. Female-specific Urine Collection Aid (for bedridden patients)

  • Cut off the narrow part of a large mineral water bottle, cut the bottle mouth at an angle of about 45°, and attach cloth tape to the edges to prevent skin damage. Place a tissue under the bottle when collecting urine, and wipe the perineum dry after urination.

Flexibly combine and adjust the plans according to actual needs, and prioritize ensuring privacy, hygiene, and structural stability.
