Biodegradable Mobile Toilet Manufacturing

Admin October 08, 2026

One of the main manufacturing methods for biodegradable mobile toilets is based on microbial degradation technology. Its core components include a squat toilet, an exhaust pipe, a fermentation and degradation tank, etc. Excreta is degraded into compliant gases for emission through the action of microorganisms.

Core Components and Structure

  1. Squat Toilet: Installed on the upper part of the fermentation and degradation tank, it can be of the electrically controlled movable door type or the direct-drop type. The electrically controlled door can automatically control the timing of excreta falling, while the direct-drop type discharges directly. Both need to be sealedly connected to the degradation tank to prevent odor leakage.
  2. Fermentation and Degradation Tank: As the core processing unit, it is filled with microbial strains and carriers (such as sawdust, straw, etc.). An exhaust pipe and a forced ventilation device (such as an exhaust fan) are installed at the upper rear part of the tank to accelerate gas emission through negative pressure suction. A heating device (such as an electric heating wire) is set at the outer bottom to maintain the temperature inside the tank within the optimal range for microbial activity (usually 30-50℃). A mechanical transmission device is installed at the outer end, connected to a stirrer inside the tank.
  3. Control and Transmission System: The mechanical transmission device drives the stirrer to rotate forward and backward through a motor, stirring the excreta and strain carriers at intervals to promote uniform mixing. The electrical PLC constant temperature and humidity control device monitors the temperature and humidity inside the tank in real-time and automatically adjusts the heating and ventilation parameters to ensure efficient microbial degradation.

Degradation Principle and Process

After excreta falls into the fermentation and degradation tank through the squat toilet, it mixes with the strain carriers. The mechanical transmission device drives the stirrer to regularly turn over the materials, increasing the contact area. Microorganisms decompose organic matter under suitable temperature and humidity conditions, producing compliant gases such as carbon dioxide and water vapor, which are discharged through the exhaust pipe. The remaining residue is converted into harmless humus after long-term degradation and can be regularly cleaned up for use as fertilizer.

Comparison with Other Manufacturing Methods

Some simple portable toilets are handmade using water storage tanks and pallets, treating excreta through flushing or physical isolation. However, they do not have microbial degradation functions and require regular waste removal. They are suitable for temporary scenarios and have relatively low environmental protection. Microbial degradation technology, on the other hand, enables on-site treatment and zero emissions, making it more suitable for long-term use or ecologically sensitive areas.
