Bazhong Prefabricated Slab House Reinforcement
Common methods for reinforcing prefabricated slab houses in Bazhong include section enlargement reinforcement, carbon fiber sheet bonding reinforcement, structural load path modification reinforcement, slab replacement, and post-hole-opening reinforcement, as detailed below:

Section enlargement reinforcement involves adding a reinforced concrete post-pouring layer not less than 40mm thick on the surface or bottom of the prefabricated slab to form a rigid floor or roof. Pouring on the slab surface is usually preferred for its relative ease of construction. If special circumstances require pouring a composite layer on the slab bottom, the slab bottom must be roughened to enhance the bond between the old and new concrete. Additionally, the spraying method should be used for construction to ensure quality and enable the old and new structures to work together in bearing loads.
Carbon fiber sheet bonding reinforcement uses structural adhesive to bond carbon fiber sheets along the span direction to the tensioned bottom of the slab. Carbon fiber sheets are notably lightweight yet strong, with strength far exceeding that of ordinary steel while being much lighter in weight. After bonding, they effectively enhance the structural load-bearing capacity and stiffness without significantly increasing the weight of the original components or affecting the structural appearance. This method has minimal impact on the normal use of the house and is suitable for reinforcing buildings with high space and appearance requirements.
Structural load path modification reinforcement involves adding beams and columns beneath the prefabricated slab to alter the load transfer path, reduce slab bending moments, and thereby enhance structural load-bearing capacity. This method is suitable for situations where the original structural load transfer is unreasonable or the load-bearing capacity is severely insufficient. However, construction is relatively complex and requires sufficient space for adding beams and columns.
Slab replacement involves selecting high-strength, high-performance prefabricated slab materials to replace the original slabs, thereby improving the overall strength and stability of the house. For connection points with weak links, additional reinforcement methods such as adding connecting reinforcement and strengthening connection nodes can be employed to ensure a firm connection between the old and new prefabricated slabs, enabling them to work together effectively.
Post-hole-opening reinforcement is necessary because opening holes in prefabricated slabs may cut off the original load transfer path and reinforcement, leading to stress concentration and reduced load-bearing capacity. Therefore, internal force analysis and load-bearing capacity verification must be conducted on the slab after hole opening. Based on the verification results, a reasonable reinforcement method should be selected for hole reinforcement to ensure structural safety.
