Assistance for Mobile Toilets

Admin September 20, 2026

Methods for assisting disabled elderly individuals in using mobile toilets and operating mobile toilets are as follows:

I. Process for Assisting Disabled Elderly Individuals in Using Mobile Commodes

  1. Preparing to Stand Up: If using a mobile commode, first help the patient shift from a seated position to leaning forward, then stand up slowly in coordination with their breathing rhythm. Pay attention to the patient's balance during this step to avoid falls caused by sudden exertion.
  2. Adjusting Direction and Loosening Clothing: Use your knees to assist the patient in turning their body 90 degrees so that their buttocks face the commode. At the same time, loosen the patient's clothing to ensure there is no sense of restraint during excretion.
  3. Sitting Down and Keeping Warm: Guide the patient to sit down slowly and cover their lower body with a bath towel to protect their privacy and prevent them from getting cold.
  4. Post-Excretion Handling: The caregiver should wait outside the door, estimate the end time of excretion, and then inquire about the patient's needs. If the patient is unable to wipe themselves, instruct them to hold onto the handrail and lift their waist. The caregiver should clean from the perineum backward to avoid contaminating the urethral or anal areas.
  5. Tidying Up Clothing: Assist the patient in putting their clothes back on, ensuring they are neatly dressed before leaving the commode.

II. Operating Points for Mobile Simple Toilets

  1. Space and Facilities: A mobile simple toilet covers an area of about 1 square meter and is equipped with a squat pan and a hand-washing faucet inside. Before use, ensure that there is enough space for the patient to turn around and that the floor is dry and slip-resistant.
  2. Flushing and Hand-Washing Functions: There are two black spherical buttons at the bottom of the toilet. Pressing the left button triggers automatic flushing of the squat pan, while pressing the right button makes the faucet release water for hand-washing. Avoid applying excessive force during operation to prevent damage to the equipment.
  3. Door Bolt Status Indication: The toilet door is equipped with a door bolt. When pulled up, it shows "Occupied" on the outside; when pulled down, it shows "Vacant". Before use, check that the door bolt is intact to avoid privacy leaks or accidental entry due to malfunctions.

III. Applicable Scenarios for Standing Assist Transfer Machines
This device consists of components such as a base, casters, a main pole, and a lifting arm. It is controlled by a remote control handle to drive a transmission device, helping semi-self-care individuals with leg support capabilities transfer from beds, wheelchairs, etc., to the toilet. When using it, fix the toilet sling to the patient's buttocks. The caregiver adjusts the height of the lifting arm via the remote control to ensure the patient sits down safely. This method is suitable for short-term rehabilitation or home care scenarios, but regular checks on the device's battery level and structural stability are required.
