Appropriate Width for Mobile Toilet Installation

Admin October 06, 2026

The installation width of mobile toilets needs to be determined based on the specific type and usage requirements. The width ranges for common types are as follows:

1. Independent Single-Pit Mobile Toilets

Independent single-pit mobile toilets are the most widely used type, typically designed with a width of 1.0 to 1.2 meters. This size is based on ergonomic principles, meeting the basic needs of individuals for turning around and squatting while using the toilet, while also considering the convenience of transportation and installation. For example, the internal net width of a standard single-pit toilet should ensure that users can stand with their arms naturally extended without touching the side walls. A width of 1.0 to 1.2 meters effectively avoids a cramped feeling and controls the overall volume to reduce transportation costs.

2. Multi-Pit Combination Mobile Toilets

Multi-pit combination mobile toilets achieve space expansion through modular design, but the unit width remains the same as that of independent single-pit toilets, i.e., 1.0 to 1.2 meters. For example, the width of a two-pit combination unit usually does not exceed 1.2 meters, allowing multiple people to use it simultaneously through longitudinal or side-by-side arrangements. This design maintains the flexibility of individual units while meeting the needs of high-traffic scenarios, such as temporary locations like scenic spots and construction sites.

3. Large Box-Type Mobile Toilets

Large box-type mobile toilets are mostly used in fixed locations or long-term usage scenarios, with widths that can reach over 2.5 meters. These toilets have more complex internal functions, possibly including management rooms, storage rooms, or multiple independent toilet stalls, thus requiring a wider box structure. For example, some high-end box-type toilets can have a width of up to 3 meters, with internal divisions for accessible toilet stalls, handwashing areas, and even rest areas, suitable for places with high space requirements like shopping malls and train stations.

4. Special Requirements for Accessible Toilet Stalls

According to accessible design specifications, the internal net width of accessible toilet stalls should be over 1.5 meters. This size takes into account the turning space for wheelchairs (with a diameter of no less than 1.5 meters) and the assistance needs of caregivers. For example, the door width of an accessible toilet stall should be no less than 0.8 meters, and an internal net width of 1.5 meters ensures that wheelchair users can enter smoothly and complete toilet actions, while also leaving operating space for caregivers.

Summary: The width selection of mobile toilets should consider the type, usage scenario, and regulatory requirements. For ordinary scenarios, a standard width of 1.0 to 1.2 meters is preferred; for high-traffic or functionally complex scenarios, large boxes over 2.5 meters can be selected; and accessible toilet stalls must meet a net width standard of over 1.5 meters.
