Anhui Container House CSC Certification

Admin September 16, 2026

If Anhui container houses are to be used for international transportation, they need to pass the certification of the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) to ensure their structural safety and compliance.

I. Core Requirements of CSC Certification

  1. Convention Background
The CSC was adopted in 1972 with the aim of unifying international container structural safety standards to safeguard the safety of personnel and cargo during transportation and handling. China joined the convention in 1980, and domestic regulations such as the Technical Rules for the Statutory Inspection of Containers further refine the technical requirements.

  2. Certification Content

    • Structural Safety: Containers must meet external strength requirements such as stacking strength, lifting strength, and roof strength, as well as internal strength requirements for the floor, end walls, and side walls.
    • Plate Information: Containers must be equipped with a CSC plate that records key information such as the manufacturing date, manufacturer, container owner code, and maximum payload weight, and indicates the next examination date (NED).
    • Examination Period: The initial examination must be completed within 5 years of manufacture, followed by periodic examinations (PES) every 30 months thereafter, or synchronized examinations during maintenance through an approved Continuous Examination Program (ACEP).

II. Certification Process and Agencies

  1. Inspection Agencies
Authoritative agencies such as Bureau Veritas and China Classification Society (CCS) can provide CSC certification services, covering a full range of inspections from production and manufacturing to operational stages, including type approval, manufacturing inspection, and periodic inspection.

  2. Certification Process

    • Application: The container owner or manufacturer submits an application to the certification agency.
    • Inspection: The agency evaluates the container's structure, plate, safety devices, etc., in accordance with CSC standards.
    • Issuance of Certificate: Upon passing the inspection, a CSC safety compliance certificate is issued, and the certification information is marked on the plate.
    • Maintenance: Containers must be continuously maintained according to the examination period. Containers under the ACEP must display the program number on the plate.

III. Implications for Anhui Container Houses

  1. Compliance Requirements
If container houses produced in Anhui are to be used for international transportation, they must pass CSC certification. Otherwise, they will not be eligible for customs-sealed transportation and may face detention or fines.

  2. Quality Assurance
CSC certification ensures that container houses meet international standards in terms of compression resistance and corrosion resistance, reducing transportation risks and enhancing market competitiveness.

  3. Examination Convenience
Domestic certification agencies (such as CCS) can provide localized services, streamlining the process, shortening the certification period, and helping enterprises achieve efficient exports.
