American Container-Built Houses
It is feasible to use containers to build houses in the United States, and a certain scale of market application has been formed.

Construction Methods and Characteristics
Container houses belong to prefabricated buildings and adopt a modular construction approach. The factory disassembles the entire building into several independent space units and completes more than 80% of the processes, including the main structure, interior decoration, and the installation of mechanical and electrical pipelines, in the workshop. The houses are then transported across the ocean in containers in the form of independent modules. Upon arrival at the site, they are directly assembled, requiring only a small amount of work such as module connection and water and electricity connection before they can be put into use, with almost no need for additional large-scale construction. For example, the "building-block houses" produced by China Construction Steel Structure Jiangsu Co., Ltd. for the North American market are transported in the form of four independent modules and delivered as fully furnished residential products that meet local standards.
Cost and Efficiency Advantages
In terms of cost, the comprehensive cost of Chinese prefabricated houses is only one-third to half of that of local construction in the United States. Taking the 40-foot folding house purchased by American bloggers Shelly and her husband as an example, the price of the house body is $15,800. Including freight, tariffs, and other fees, the total landed cost is $28,689 (about 200,000 RMB), which can provide a fully furnished two-bedroom, one-living-room house of about 70 square meters. In contrast, the average construction cost of a house of the same area in the United States is about $165 per square foot, with labor costs alone reaching about $200,000. In terms of efficiency, the production cycle of Chinese prefabricated houses is about 30 days, and the entire ocean transportation process takes about 50 days, with installation taking only one day. In comparison, the local construction cycle in the United States can be as long as six months to a year. For example, in the 18-story high-rise residential project in Hong Kong undertaken by China Construction Steel Structure, after adopting a modular construction plan, the project was completed and delivered within one year, shortening the overall construction period by 60% to 70%.
Safety and Compliance
All modules are connected to the foundation with high-strength bolts, and the overall structure can withstand strong typhoons and high-grade earthquakes, with safety performance meeting local building codes. China Construction Science and Industry Group Co., Ltd. has obtained CSA W47.1 welding enterprise certification, CSA A660 steel structure building system manufacturer certification, and CSA A277 modular product certification, covering the full-process compliance requirements for welding quality, overall building systems, and modular products, allowing its products to enter the North American market without hindrance.
