Alternative Portable Toilet

Admin September 21, 2026

Portable toilets are facilities that can be moved as a whole and provide toilet services to the public. They are suitable for a variety of locations and come in multiple types with distinct features.

Suitable Locations

Portable toilets are applicable in stations, docks, tourist attractions, villa areas, newly built residential communities, large construction sites, squares, densely populated public places, and bustling commercial streets. These areas often face issues such as an insufficient number of fixed public toilets or an unreasonable layout. Portable toilets can be flexibly deployed to meet people's temporary and periodic toilet needs. For example, at large construction sites, where there are many workers with high mobility, portable toilets can be conveniently placed within the site to provide convenience for workers. In tourist attractions, with a large influx of tourists, portable toilets can be adjusted in position according to the distribution of tourists to improve usage efficiency.

Composition Structure

Generally, they consist of a fecal sewage storage tank (or fecal sewage treatment device), flooring, sanitary ware, walls, washing equipment, water tanks, roofs, and mobile devices. These components work together to ensure the normal operation of portable toilets. The fecal sewage storage tank is used to collect and store fecal sewage, the sanitary ware provides the basic toilet function, and the mobile device enables the toilet to be moved as a whole conveniently.

Type Classification

  • By structural form: They can be divided into single-structure portable toilets and composite-structure portable toilets. Single-structure toilets are relatively simple and suitable for small-scale use; composite-structure toilets are more complex and have more comprehensive functions, meeting the usage needs of more people.
  • By mobility method: They are classified into lifting and handling portable toilets, and powered and towed portable toilets. Lifting and handling portable toilets require external equipment for movement; powered and towed portable toilets have their own power or can be towed by vehicles, offering greater flexibility and convenience.
  • By sewage treatment method: They include water-flush and non-water-flush suction portable toilets, circulating water-flush portable toilets, and dry-packing portable toilets. Different treatment methods are suitable for different environments and needs. For example, water-flush toilets are suitable for locations with a water source, while dry-packing toilets are suitable for water-scarce areas.

Design Principles

The design should adhere to the principles of mobility and convenience, economic durability; environmental protection and ecological friendliness, beneficial to the environment; improving efficiency and promoting humanity. The overall structure should be lightweight, using lightweight and durable materials as much as possible while ensuring structural sturdiness. The height and width of the toilet should be controlled, and the mobile device should be fully considered for completeness and rationality.
