Aba Prefecture Container House
There are container house applications in Aba Prefecture, mainly innovative projects for waste containers and residential containers adapted to the plateau climate.

I. Container-style Waste Containers Adapted to the Plateau Climate Aba Prefecture is located on the northwestern Sichuan Plateau, experiencing over 60 days of strong winds annually, with winter minimum temperatures often below -15°C, and frequent freeze-thaw cycles and sudden heavy rains. Ordinary color-steel waste containers are prone to issues such as weld cracking, frame deformation, and roof water leakage. Mianyang Jiangzhu Container Co., Ltd. has addressed these environmental challenges by adopting a Q235B thickened rectangular steel tube main frame combined with a double-layer galvanized profiled steel sheet enclosure system. With column spacing ≤1.2 meters and a roof slope ≥15°, along with EPDM ethylene propylene diene monomer waterproofing membranes and concealed drainage channel designs, structural stability and all-weather protection are achieved. This design, based on wind tunnel simulation data and on-site frost heave observations, has withstood three consecutive winters of heavy snow and 8-level gusts in Hongyuan County at an altitude of 3,200 meters, with zero structural maintenance records. Its fully bolted modular connections replace on-site welding, avoiding the risk of brittle fracture due to low temperatures on the plateau, ensuring the feasibility of disassembly and reuse, and reducing lifecycle costs.
II. Innovative Applications of Residential Containers Drawing on foreign experience, Chengdu has transformed containers into small residential houses, known as 'container houses,' characterized by structural stability, strong mobility, and rapid construction. Projects launched by companies such as Chengdu Siji Yiju Integrated Housing Co., Ltd. enhance weather resistance through optimized paint coating processes and adopt modular designs to meet the aesthetic needs of different groups. These residential container projects are widely used in temporary housing, tourist attractions, and construction site dormitories. Through spatial reconfiguration, they achieve efficient land use within limited spaces, aligning with the flexible housing demands of urbanization and providing a low-carbon construction model reference for plateau regions like Aba Prefecture.
III. Technical Advantages of Container Houses Container houses employ standardized manufacturing processes, with material selection (such as thickened steel tubes and galvanized steel sheets) and node construction (such as concealed drainage channels) jointly enhancing structural durability. Their modular connection methods reduce on-site construction errors, while EPDM waterproofing membranes and slope designs effectively address heavy rains on the plateau. The total lifecycle cost is 70% lower than that of traditional buildings. These technical characteristics make them the preferred solution for plateau, alpine, and windy regions.
